CABIN IN THE WOODS Goes 3D!

Jim here. Got an update from MGM on CABIN IN THE WOODS. It's release date has been pushed almost a full year from February 5, 2010 to January 14, 2011 as MGM and director Drew Goddard (CLOVERFIELD screenwriter) have decided to convert the 2D horror to 3D.

Looks like they will have some competition. Sony Screen Gems' UNDERWORLD 4 is expected to be released in January 2011 in glorious 3D as well. Hopefully there will be ample 3D screens by then! Still, they are both dark genre movies - lets hope for some spacing at least.

CABIN IN THE WOODS is about a group of college kids spend a weekend at a mysterious cabin in the woods that white-collar co-workers have a mysterious connection.

3D conversion as a valid method of attaining that extra theatrical dimension has arrived. After seeing what In-Three has achieved with G-FORCE, this conversion should be great technically at least (who knows about the story). Remains to be seen what conversion company gets the business; PassmoreLab and In-Three come to mind. As long as the conversion is done competently I am looking forward to this one.
